Singapore Workshop

Teaching Young Swimmers with Purpose

A Regulation-Led, Developmentally Informed Approach to Early Years Aquatics

IMG_2839.JPG

This workshop is for you if…

You teach babies, toddlers, or young children in the water and you want to:

This is not about adding more activities.

It is about teaching with greater clarity, purpose, and professional judgement.

Many early years swimming programmes focus heavily on what to teach, but very little on:

What this workshop is really about

1 / When a child is ready
2 / Why a child responds the way they do
3 / How regulation, sensory processing, and development affect learning in water

This workshop reframes early years aquatics through a regulation-first lens, helping you understand how children learn in water and how to support them more effectively.

You will leave with a clearer framework for decision-making on poolside and a deeper understanding of your role as an early years aquatic educator, not just an instructor.

What you will gain from attending

By the end of the workshop, you will understand:

What makes this workshop different

This is not a “game ideas” session.
It is not about entertainment or surface-level engagement.

This workshop combines:

Early childhood development

Real poolside observation

Sensory and regulatory understanding

Practical teaching frameworks

Everything shared is grounded in how children actually learn, and how that learning shows up in movement, behaviour, and confidence in water.

You will gain insight that improves every lesson you teach, not just themed sessions.

Who is this workshop for?

Swim teachers working with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers

Early years aquatic educators and programme leaders

Teachers working in private swim schools, academies, or international school settings

Educators who value reflective practice and professional growth

This workshop is suitable for:

No prior knowledge of regulation or sensory theory is required.

What to expect on the day

A practical, discussion-led workshop

Clear frameworks you can apply immediately

Real poolside examples and case studies

A calm, respectful learning environment

Time for reflection and professional dialogue

This is a thinking space as much as a learning space.

Frequently Asked Questions

01

Do I need prior knowledge of regulation or sensory development?

No. This workshop is designed to be accessible and practical. Concepts are explained clearly and linked directly to what you see and do on poolside, regardless of your background or training.

02

Is this workshop suitable if I already use play in my lessons?

Yes. This workshop goes beyond using play as engagement. It focuses on how and why play supports regulation, learning, and skill development, and how to use it intentionally rather than instinctively.

03

Will this workshop align with structured programmes and outcomes?

Yes. The workshop explores how regulation-led, play-based teaching can support clear aquatic outcomes while offering greater flexibility in how lessons are structured and delivered.

04

Is this workshop practical or theoretical?

It is both, with a strong emphasis on practical application. Theory is introduced only where it helps you make better decisions on poolside. You will leave with frameworks you can use immediately in your teaching.

05

Is this suitable for teachers working with toddlers & preschool age?

Yes. The workshop is particularly relevant for teachers working with toddlers, and preschool-aged children, but the principles apply across early years aquatic programmes.

06

Will I receive a certificate of attendance?

Yes. All participants will receive an email with their certificate of attendance following the workshop.

07

Can schools or swim academies book group places?

Yes. Group bookings are welcome. Please contact Helen to discuss availability and booking options.

08

What should I bring on the day?

Just yourself, swimwear, a notebook if you wish, and an open mindset. All learning materials will be provided.

09

Is this workshop suitable for different cultural and teaching contexts?

Yes. The principles shared are developmentally grounded and adaptable across a range of teaching environments, class structures, and cultural settings.
